Mike provided an all-day demonstration at the Los Altos Youth Center.
His range of turning is quite wide and considers himself a turner of wood to be used.
Pictures of his demonstration are here.
Mike Mahoney has been a professional turner since 1994. His early days involved production turning of salad bowls, but he is currently reducing his focus on production in favor of technical work.
He is well known for his nested cored bowls, but he also makes platters, canisters, hollow forms, and funeral urns.
His work is featured in galleries across the United States, and is sought after by collectors all over the world.
His demonstration will cover canisters, hollow forms, urns, and bowls. He will also show you how to chase threads, and his special grind for bowl gouges.
