I'd like to take a second to thank all of the people that have stepped up and taken on one of the officer positions in the club. Without them, the club wouldn't exist. With fresh blood and ideas, it loses it vibrant feel. So, so say thanks, and offer to help when you see something you can help with or when asked.
I hope I didn't bore everyone too much with my little painting demo in Jan. It isn't for everyone, some people see it as a distraction from the wood. But I find it just one more technique for embellishing our work and a great way to make a boring piece of wood interesting. I just ordered another 14 colors, to give me more options. Wood is our canvas. Painting, dying, burning, and carving will let me create more than
"brown and round".
Don't miss our up coming demo with Dixie in March. Her carving is awesome, and she is a great demonstrator. Some of us are lucky enough to be in the hands on class the next day. The class filled quickly, so I know I'm not the only one interested. I've been looking forward to this class for more than a year now.
I'm sorry to say I will miss the Feb meeting. I'll be off at a Sharks game. Hope it is as entertaining as the planned program looks to be. Bob Bley has shared his plan for the program, looks like I will miss a good one.
Are you planning on attending a symposium this year? Now is the time to start making plans. I try to attend one every year, but didn't make it last year. AAW will be in Kentucky this year. Other good options to consider would be the Rocky Mountain symposium or SWAT. I've heard good things about both of them. If you've ever wondered how we identify potential demonstrators, it comes from these symposiums. If you attend, let us know if you attend a program that looks promising.
See you in March!
Dave
