President's Message
Just a short note (from Maui) on our next general meeting, which will not
be at the Los Altos Youth Center on Tuesday, 14 September 2010, at 19:00 but
at the Multi-purpose Room on Hillview.
It looks as though we will have to use the multi-purpose for the rest of this year. We can guarantee that we get LAYC in 2011 by paying Jan, Feb & Mar in advance.
Meeting Agenda for Sept 14:
The main programme will be Pat Crowley who will demonstrate making a "tri-cornered bowl", and in a somewhat related vein,
Richard Winslow will demonstrate making a "sphericon".
A couple of quick points from our last board meeting:
* Bill Johnston had taken up the role of cyanoacrylate purchasing and distribution for the club - a role that had been previously filled by the noble Tom Howard. In as much as Bill cannot do this anymore, there is an opportunity for someone to fill the gap, as it were... (couldn't resist).
I am unsure of the details as to exactly what this entails, but I am advised that by doing so, we achieve a considerable discount below retail pricing. If you are interested in doing this, please contact me (edgar_whipple@yahoo.com) directly.
* A reminder that our annual dues will increase next year from $25.00 to $30.00. We have not raised our dues for ages, and since we no longer have "free" use of a facility, we think it's time to raise the dues.
